Hello Everyone! We've decided to start a new thing called poll day! It will happen every week. Basically we'll ask two questions that'll be put into polls, you answer and everyone sees the results. Fun, eh? Well today one of my questions has to do with a dilemma I was dealing with so yeah! Go ahead and answer the polls, oh and don't forget to leave a comment, especially if it's a poll idea! Alright, go go go!
Hello everyone... I've been bad... I got sent to prison... while Dana got sent to Europe... but you know I did kinda buy the tickets to prison so you know. Hey guys! I went to Alcatraz with my mom a couple Saturday's ago and it was quite a fun trip! This happened while I was staying in San Francisco. I had just finished a short Saturday class at the intensive and was ready to go to Alcatraz! Our first stop was the Plant Café Organic since it was around lunchtime. I got a salad and a juice and quite enjoyed it, afterwards we walked around the piers since we had some time.
We arrived in Alcatraz in a nice boat ride that was roughly five minutes. I didn't realize Alcatraz was that close... hmmm. I then saw the beauty that Alcatraz was. There were plants and birds and SEAGULL CHICKS! You do not realize how cute they are. They're like little leopard birds, but I suppose they're speckled that way to blend in, its hard to see them sometimes. My mom and I took an audio tour of the prison she did one in Russian while I, well English duh. It was pretty amazing. There were these dramatic prison sounds and cool escape stories told from other prisons who lived on Alcatraz, also known as "The Rock". Thank goodness most of the tour was inside since it was cold and windy outside. After a couple hours, we left on another boat.
Now a final little weird story. While we were walking back to the garage we say five retro cars that all had a guy driving and a "movie star" girl in the seat next to him with some killer sunglasses. One of the cars even went up and down (on purpose) and I was kind of scared for their safety, ha-ha. I hope you enjoyed my story, even if it's a little late. Signing off, A happy Anna! Hey everyone! Recently I made Nutella by myself based on a Buzzfeed video. As you see, looks delicious! Go ahead, watch the video. Then press "read more" to get my experience! Hey guys, Dana here! This is my first installment of my Europe trip. Don't worry there are more come, enjoy!
Denmark Days 1-3 The flight to Copenhagen, Denmark was both good and bad. We flew with the Norwegian Company, their plane was huge, it was nine seats across, three in each of the three rows. They had a TV installed in each individual seat, where you could watch free movies, and plug in your earplugs and electronics for charging. I watched the Mocking Jay Part One, and part of the Internship. It was a night flight, and I can't sleep on planes so I was very restless. When we actually landed, Denmark looked like Portland. It was very green and there were so many bikes, when we got to the apartment building, we had to climb up so many flights of stairs, because the man who owns the apartment told us that it was on the 4th floor, labeled Hemrick. After calling the guy five times, we finally found out that is was on the fifth floor, and it was "labeled" with a kids drawing of like a flower or something, Whaat? Dude how can you mess up fourth floor, kid drawing, I mean there was no door labeled Hennrick in the building any way. You drunk? After we got that settled I actually explored the apartment. It had a large living room, a small kitchen, a child's room, and a small room up very steep stairs with no railing. We went to explore the streets, so we found a bakery that sold fresh bread and pastries. So every morning we went to buy bread, fruits and a small pastry. Also, every day we went for a walk to see sights, like old churches, but I got bored easily since the definitions beauty for me and my family are two totally different things. We stayed for three days, until flying to Paris. Overall, it was pretty cool. The sleepiest of Dana's, signing off! Hey everybody! I've been having a great time in San Francisco! And if you have no clue what I'm talking about go to my first post here! Since much didn't happen in the second week I'm putting the second and third/final week into one blog post. Today was my second to last day so tomorrow is my last day. Last week was pretty repetive. I complained a lot about my pointe shoes on my other post, but I slowly got better at pointe and got new pointe shoes. I went to San Francisco Dancewear last week and wanted to just get my current model of pointe shoe in a bigger size since my old ones were much too small. Just so you know I wore Freed Studio II's and the box, or hard part of the pointe shoe wasn't very good for my feet, so the staff kindly kept giving me shoes to try on. I finally decided on a pair of Suffolks which fit incredibly well. Went we went to the cashier my mom realized this was the brand my teacher had recommended for me but we hadn't been able to find it in Oregon. So it turns out life finds a way. Also one of my teachers, who I will keep anonymous for her sake, was correcting the pianist more than us. She even made him stand up and do our preparation so he'd do the correct counts. And even after that she still was like, "No two counts and then, and one!" And he looked kind of confused. We, the dancers, all always looked at each other in disbelief and laughed. Like her correcting the pianist probably took up 15 minutes of our time which is 1/10 of it which to me is a lot. Great to know we paid for teachers to correct the pianists... So, my friend and I have an inside joke about bellies. I'm not gonna go on and rant about where it came from, but just how it made me crack up in the middle of class. Alright, one of the pianists we had was named Billy, and before you cry out I'm revealing private property, do you think you can find Billy out of thousands in California? Yeah, no. So his name is Billy and one of my teachers has an accent so everytime she says "Billy" really fast it sounds like she is saying "Belly". My teachers tells us our combination, which is an adagio, or slow combination, and then tells the pianist quickly,"Adagio, Billy!" but I heard it as "Adagiobelly" and of course that made me smirk and forget the combination. Good job, me! I had pantomime today. It's basically a dance mime, just to help clear things up. We had all made up little mime stories and we went one by one showing our stories. So eventually, this one group goes. There's was about a betrayal in love, which sounds super dramatic, but doesn't look that dramatic. They tell this story then afterwards one of the girls watching was crying which I find kind of funny since it takes a lot to make me laugh or cry or basically feel emotion. I mean "Inside Out" made me cry but that's been in development for around six years. Finally, I was called a lobster in one of my technique classes... The story behind this is that I turn extremely red in class since the blood is rushing to my face while I work. It also happened to be that I was holding my breath, and yes you may find it strange that I forget to breathe but I guess I forget to breathe sometimes. And of course my teacher correlated those two things and said I was starting to look like a lobster since I was holding my breath. Great. Overall this experience was amazing and it made me work very hard and I really think I have improved. Thank you San Francisco Ballet and thank you for listening to me! An improved Anna, Signing off! |
