Hey guys! I'm currently at San Francisco Ballet! You may be asking, "Why in the world are you there?" Well hypothetical person who is probably non-existent, I'm doing a three week summer intensive! It's Monday and I've already completed one week. So, I'm going to tell you how that week went!
To get to San Francisco was a feat of it's own. That's a 12 hour drive from my house and we didn't want to get a hotel to save money so we did that ALL in one day. My mom drove me the entire way so, props to her! We stopped at Ashland and did some fun stuff, like eat food... Eventually we arrived at our friends house who lives an hour and a half from San Francisco. I rested and my first week began!
My mom and I drove to the ballet theater and we entered. I was not used to the atmosphere. Everyone seemed to know what they were doing while I was lost with no friends. We were guided to one of the studios and we were told information in a big glob of dancers. Then my mom left and I went to my assigned group, group one. We did a placement class and the next day I discovered I was at the very bottom, class A1. Next we went to a contemporary class which reminded me of jazz, and was simple enough. Finally we went on a tour around the building which made me think the school was huge but now it seems sort of small and claustrophobic.
The entire week was pretty repetitive, technique, then pointe and then another class. I thought I was okay at pointe but I soon realized I absolutely suck. Right now my new friends are telling I'm not alone but I still feel reaalllllyyy bad at pointe. Ah well. My feet hurt a lot. I didn't realize pointe shoes could hurt so much. I feel like I need to freeze my feet into some ice or something.
I hope everyone enjoyed my little rant/story! It's currently lunch and I'm going to go find my friends.... So have a great day!
